Celebrate and remember our veterans at the Moody Museum’s annual commemoration event on Nov. 10. The museum celebrates veterans of all wars and conflict, and this year spotlights the 75th anniversary of the D-Day invasion. The museum is open from 2-5 p.m. for tours. At 3 PM, visitors gather on the lawn (weather permitting) for the raising of the flag, followed by the national anthem and guest speaker Thomas Hatfield of the Dolph Briscoe History Center. Hatfield has written about WWII and leads tours of Normandy battlefields. Following the program, guests are invited to enjoy refreshments, and museum tours will resume.
Included in this year’s collection is a display dedicated to Latinos in service. Other military memorabilia will be on display alongside shadow boxes and uniforms belonging to Taylor veterans of WWII and other conflicts. Shadow boxes feature personally curated collections of military mementos created by veterans and their families. To submit yours, contact the museum at firstname.lastname@example.org. Loaner shadow boxes are available upon request.
