Pounds of Plenty Food Drive in June

Every June the museum host a Pounds of Plenty food drive for the local Shepherds Heart food pantry.

The large box truck from Shepherds Heart is positioned in front of the museum to receive the donated food items. Each donation is weighed and recorded.

Veterans shadow boxes are on display throughout the downstairs area of the museum during the afternoon ceremonies honoring local veterans. The event is held the Sunday before Veterans Day each year.

Phil Pierce, a Korean War veteran, spoke at the 2015 Veterans Day observance. He told of former Taylor classmates and the sacrifices they made serving their country. The local VFW Hall is named in honor of Pierce's brother, Sidney Pierce, who was killed in WWII.

Christmas at the Moody, first Saturday in December

At Christmas the museum is decorated in a style reminiscent of the era when the Moody family lived in the home. Local families sometimes stop by for photos by the Christmas tree.

The first Saturday in December local school children from kindergarten through fourth grade are invited to the museum to make Victorian Christmas ornaments. Volunteers, including local high school students, often help the children.
